If your vacation time is winding down like ours, but you still want to pretend you’re basking in the Tuscan sun, or enjoying the sights of India, maybe a little spritz of these location-inspired perfumes is all you need to trigger your sweet summer memories…

Summer in the Hamptons smells just like this scent from Hampton Sun with fresh floral and citrus mixed with sea grass and musk.

Been basking under the Tuscan Sun? Ferragamo’s latest scent, Tuscan Soul, will arrive next month, just in time to keep the memory of citrus groves and countryside alive.

Perhaps your vacation was a little more spicy and exotic, like Hermes’ Un Jardin Apres la Mousson ~ a blend of pepper, vetiver, coriander and ginger inspired by the Kerala region of India. The spice is well balanced with a freshness that gives the scent its name.

For something completely different, why not a perfume inspired by aloewood, which has been burned for centuries in Japan. The Dark Amber & Ginger Lily creation from Jo Malone is a modern interpretation of Kohdo - an ancient Japanese ceremony - and uses Kyara wood and cardamon to mimic this musky scent.

What’s in a scent that makes it so personal? Ask John Galliano - the renowned designer has waited 20 years since launching his brand to release his own perfume.

The designer, whose scent is expected in September, explained the process behind creating his debut fragrance to WWD, describing such influences as “the artist Baldini; Galliano’s frothy, bias-cut dresses; the powdery backstage at his fashion shows, and his childhood memories of freshly ironed shirts.” He created inspiration boards to convey his ideas to the design team, and spoke of “rose, peony, iris with its powdery side, violet and of transparence,”… a theme that was perhaps echoed in the recent Dior Couture show as well, where his designs were full of froththy girlish transparent layers…

Whether or not the scent will be as successful as the man himself, will remain to be seen. According to WWD, the scent will be launched at the end of September in the U.K., through an exclusive with Harrods, and in Germany. On Oct. 11, it is to be introduced in France, exclusively at Sephora, and then a few days later in Switzerland. The launch in the rest of the world will take place in 2009. Well, if John waited 20 years to create it, then we suppose we can wait until 2009…
