Popular in the mini pouf, but absolutely stunning in a full length gown, these three dresses make the most of the floral motif for fall.

Glam and colorful from Christian Dior.

Strong and bold from Giambattista Valli.
Looks like it’s time to go big or go home, ladies.
You may have seen a lot of this poster floating around in design magazines and stores…

We’ve seen it everywhere. (What? You have one too?)
The poster was created during WWII and issued as a means of keeping the masses… well… calm. Ironically, the poster was held in reserve for use only in times of extreme crisis. Hm. Not sure how effective that would have been?
Well, now the folks over at Keep Calm Gallery have brought the print into the 21st century with this take on it…

Now that’s a sentiment we can get behind. Guitar Hero anyone?

Have you heard the latest single from Nikka Costa? It’s a little bit pop, a little bit soul, and a lotta fun. Listen to it on her MySpace page and get excited for the new record, Pebble to a Pearl. Here’s a little taste of what’s to come…
Fall is coming. And rain? Well, maybe in other parts of the country. But since when has the reality of weather ever stopped us from pretending like we have seasons here in LA? This year, however, we’re ditching or Uggs in favor of even less necessary footwear: Wellies!

The Burberry Plaid is always a classic, but we also like this vamped up version with stud trim and high gloss.

Sometimes with a trend like this, it’s best to go classic. We’re big fans of the Hunter Original Wellingtons in a variety of colors, or could also go for the Hunter riding boot. Either way, these styles will have staying power in your wardrobe.

If keeping things subtle is not your style, then these boots are for you! Take your pick between the bright yellow (and highly coveted) Loeffler Randall’s, or faux patent red by Aquatalia.
Bring on the rain!
Trying to capture the last weeks of summer…

Photo by Tim Walker. Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, friends!
With a three-day weekend coming up next week, we’re on the hunt for a road-trip-worthy destination here in Cali. Our first nominee? The Canary Hotel in beautiful Santa Barbara.

Recently purchased by the owners of the infamous Shutters and redesigned by Michael Smith, The Canary is sure to be a big hit in Old Town.

The simple and luxurious bedrooms, like the lobby, were designed to be ‘Alhambra meets Pacific’, and each room even comes with a yoga mat to encourage some inner peace. While we love the inside…

… it’s the pool that really calls to us. Panoramic views of the Santa Ynez Mountains while we lounge in the sunshine? Love it.

And as the day cools down, we can still take advantage of the patio by cozying up to the fireplace on “the perch”.
May was yellow…

and June was Red…

And in July the crew from RGB in Berlin decked everything out in blue.

We love this shopping concept: at RGB they cram art, fashion, design, music and a bar into one space (we’d never have to leave!), and they change the color scheme out every month to keep it fresh.
What’s next for the creative duo of owners Lina Müller and Anne Meister? Turquoise for August, Pink in September, Orange in October, Green in November and White in December. Plan your shopping accordingly.
Indie band Ra Ra Riot started their career playing campus venues around Syracuse University in 2006. Two years later, they are releasing their first full length album, The Rhumb Line, sounding like a band who has been around much longer.
Their first single, Dying is Fine, has taken on a more haunting meaning since the band’s drummer, John Pike’s, tragic death in 2007. Other melodies are slightly mournful as well, but others are upbeat and laid back - similar to the sounds of Vampire Weekend - providing a good mix of sounds for their debut.

To listen to more of their tracks, check them out on their MySpace page, or download the album today.
If your vacation time is winding down like ours, but you still want to pretend you’re basking in the Tuscan sun, or enjoying the sights of India, maybe a little spritz of these location-inspired perfumes is all you need to trigger your sweet summer memories…

Summer in the Hamptons smells just like this scent from Hampton Sun with fresh floral and citrus mixed with sea grass and musk.

Been basking under the Tuscan Sun? Ferragamo’s latest scent, Tuscan Soul, will arrive next month, just in time to keep the memory of citrus groves and countryside alive.

Perhaps your vacation was a little more spicy and exotic, like Hermes’ Un Jardin Apres la Mousson ~ a blend of pepper, vetiver, coriander and ginger inspired by the Kerala region of India. The spice is well balanced with a freshness that gives the scent its name.

For something completely different, why not a perfume inspired by aloewood, which has been burned for centuries in Japan. The Dark Amber & Ginger Lily creation from Jo Malone is a modern interpretation of Kohdo - an ancient Japanese ceremony - and uses Kyara wood and cardamon to mimic this musky scent.
